Reduce the resolution. Generally scanning a document at about 300dpi is the right combination of lower file size and legibility. Scan in black and white (bilevel). This saves both time and space. Most scanners can scan faster in black and white than t can in color so you’ll get your scans faster and smaller files. Use PDF compression. Most scanner software will do this by default but if you have the option make sure you select it.
